AoEO Online
Age of Empires Online is the newest compilation of the Age of Empires series that first started way back in 1997. After a year of beta-testing, the game was released on August 16th, 2011.
The major difference between Age of Empires Online (AoEO) and its predecessors is that it is no longer a single player game with multi-player capabilities, the whole AoEO world is persistently set online, with a mixture of MMORPG features unfamiliar to the previous games.
This new blend will hopefully retain all the great features that previous AoE players enjoyed, and perhaps entice a new generation of online gamers into the AoE franchise. The core game is free to download and play, with enhancement in the form of 'packs' that can be bought to enrich particular aspects of the gameplay.
This blog aims to uncover some of the finer details of the game and give a greater background of the AoE 'feel', that made the AoE series a roaring success over the past decade and a half.
